Terrorism

There are so many world conflicts that are affecting everyone today. Terrorism is nothing new to our country or the world, but it has been an issue we have been fighting for. It is horrible, and the people who partake in it are just sick. On Sunday  June 12th, 2016 in Orlando Gay Nightclub, a man shot and killed 49 people and he wounded 53 more people. According to CNN, the shooting decimated the gay nightclub. "It was the deadliest mass shooting in the United States and the nation's worst terror attack since 9/11 (CNN, 2016). It was not just a problem on them, it was an attack on the whole nation. There was also many attacks in Paris that took place on November 13th, 2015. There were 130 innocent people that were dead and thousands more people that were wounded. According to BBC News, "Gunman and suicide bombers hit a concert hall, restaurant and bar, almost at the same time (BBC, 2015)." Looking back and learning the gruesome details is so sad. The families of all those innocent dead people were so torn and devastated  to find out that their son/daughter, or wife/husband would not come home. One day I hope, our country and every country will slowly realize that the one thing killing us tremendously is ourselves. Violence is not the answer to anything, treat anything with love, and surely there will be a way out. There was a quote by Greg Mortenson that relates to this theme: "If you fight terrorism, it's based on fear. If you promote peace, it's based on hope."

  1. It's really sad, and just disgusting that things like this still go on today. You would think with all the acceptance we have today, and all the things that have changed throughout history, things wouldn't happen like this. Innocent people just living their lives, and trying to enjoy life don't deserve such horrible things. Their families have to live without their loved ones everyday knowing such a horrible thing has happened, and it's so unfair.

    1. Your absolutely right. Its scary to think but it is kind of like History repeating itself. I love how you said 'Innocent people...don't deserve such horrible things'. I definitely agree, no one deserves to die painfully especially innocent civilians.

  2. Ashley I always love your blogs!! This is honestly so sad because what if one day one of us is at the wrong pace at the wrong time. Terrorism can happen at any given moment and anyone one of us could be accidently caught in the cross fire. It's sad to think about but it happens more frequently then it should and its scary to even think about.

    1. Awe thank you Kyla! Your very sweet, Your blogs are thought provoking as well. I agree with what you said, the worst thing about terrorism is that it creates fear in our hearts. We don't know when it is going to strike or who it will be. I know! I do hope that none of us ever are in a situation like that.

  3. It's such a shame to sit and listen to all of these horrific events taking place in the world and not be able to really do much. I really like the quote you threw in at the end saying that promoting peace is the way to correct the wrongdoings of terrorists. Do you think we, not only as a country but as a worldly society, will ever achieve true peace and be free of terror?

    1. Thank you (: I'm an optimist, so in my heart I want to believe that this isn't the fate our world. There will always be problems because I think it is necessary for humans to have bad and good. Like without sadness we would not be able to understand happiness. Without fear we cannot fathom what peace is. So what I'm saying is there will always be problems, hopefully less wars and deaths. I don't believe a "perfect society" exists, because if it was real we would all need to robots. But I do think in the future as a worldly society we might be able to spread more love, acceptance, respect and make people more aware of whats going on in the world. If we all come together, there isn't anything we can't defeat. I hope that answered your question.
